Things to do in Virgin Gorda

The Baths, Virgin Gorda; A Must See.

If you are visiting the Caribbean, you owe it to yourself to visit The Baths. It is a great example of what Mother Nature has to offer.

The Baths is Virgin Gorda's most famous natural attraction. It is a collection of gigantic granite boulders forming a series of sheltered pools and grottoes, which is evidence of the island's volcanic origins. It is an unusual geologic formation located on the island’s southern end, making Virgin Gorda one of the BVI's major tourist destinations.

There are two options to access The Baths: boat or hiking down through the trails of The Baths National Park. If you decide to hike, it is a 20-25 minute hike down the hill to get to the beach. If you access by boat you can get to a certain point on the bay and swim or dinghy your way into the shore. Once you are there you will experience the splendor of a unique beach with crystal-clear turquoise water sprinkled with giant granite boulders on the shore. There is a small restaurant at the bottom where you can buy lunch or have a drink. If you decide to lay low, soak up some sun, and enjoy the grandeur of a remarkable beach, this is the perfect place. If you feel adventurous enough you can hike through the pools and grottoes to get to the neighboring Devil’s Bay beach, which is an equally spectacular crescent bay with calm waters and gorgeous white sand. The journey will entail pulling yourself with ropes to get across the giant rocks, going into the water, and squatting to get into the narrow caves. It sounds strenuous, but is not that difficult and it’ll be well worth it. On your next trip to the Caribbean, be sure to include a visit to Virgin Gorda to experience The Baths. It is an easy 50-minute flight from San Juan, Puerto Rico. Book your Virgin Gorda trip now.
